Keep sleeping on 18. This is a wonderful wine. Soaring aromatics. Tar, tobacco, bright cherry, roses and almost treacly. Really lovely sweet cherries that are almost confectionary. Awesome minerals underneath. Just a tremendous nose that screams classicism. Palate is nervy, juicy and engaging with lovely sweet cherry fruit and awesome freshness. Tremendous lift and complexity. Great concentration and purity. Silky and supple texture and great structure. Long finish. Superb. I am sure air will improve my score. Solid 9.4.
After air this has greatly improved and gotten sweeter fruit and great length and depth. A beautiful wine. 9.4++++

Nose is smokey, tarry and reserved initially. Nice spices. Some tea. But seems like it’s about to bust open in 30 minutes or so. Chestnut. Some mid season cherry and minerality develops. It’s getting floral now. Palate is juicy, ripe and dense with great freshness and expressive mineralIty. Concentrated and really complex. Worlds better than the Gallina. Needs maybe one hour open but terrific energy, density and freshness. Long as well. Balanced. Substantial tannins but velvety and just barely sweet.

Jun 27th, 2020Nose is pretty with hints of cocoa, mocha, roses, tar, some tobacco. Deep, impressive minerality. Really elegant aromas of impressive depth and precision. Some fresh fallen leaves and cigar as well. Smells so compact and complete like most 16 Barbaresco. Palate is ridiculously great. Juicy fruit, slate like tannins, and super fruit pumps on the finish while also washing the palate with minerals. Nose gets going even more after air with just an ethereal perfume. Wow, what a palate, so dense, layered, with that slight hit of 16 opulence and then just terrific freshness. A big but elegant wine. Keeps opening and changing. Nose gets insane. Spice, vivid mid season cherry fruit. Wow. So so so so complex. What a showing.

2008 vintage on 25.10.18 sometimes it is such a shame to finish a last bottle. Some three years ago it was completely locked but the last year: wow!!
This Barbaresco turned out to be a fantastic wine. Mocca, coffee, figues and even hints of cherries.
Warm lush wine.
Only wished I had more.
