Gallina Barbaresco Nebbiolo

Solid Barbaresco. At this age, the tannins are mellow and the wine is ready to go.

Terrific nose. Amazing depth. Tobacco, cigar, wood shavings, mineral, loam and superb depth. Sinewy and brooding. What texture. Terrific opulence. Palate is a bit broad and out of wack at first. All the parts are there but it needs to come together with air. Big tannins. Big mid season cherry fruit. It is coming together. Ample tannins and has precision but not like 2016. It had a touch of broadness. After some air mint, and fresh field and floral scents. Gorgeous aromas. Palate is good, but lacks precision and tannins are a bit broad and messy. Balanced though. Will be back with much air. Palate got worse with air. Ugh.

UPDATE: after many hours this is 8.6 to 8.8. Better balance, less heat, good length. But still meh.

Beautiful expression of Nebiolo. Tobaco, leather and smooth….

Still juvenile this Barbaresco. Paired with perfectly cooked steak with redwine sauce. Loads of fruit, leather and cocoa in the wine. Subtle!

2011 is excellent tasting 2020. Complex yet balanced and smooth. Still some red fruit but soft and some mineral and earthiness that compiles this wine

This was interesting immediately upon opening but didn't have very much length. It had some acidity but kind of flattened out after about 30 minutes. Kind of disappointing...

2008 vintage together with risotto with black truffle. Cacao, coffee, chocolate nose! Some truffle in the nose or are we too delighted? Subtle tanins. Lengthy smooth finish. Great wine!!!
