Tasted blind. Deep dark color, almost opaque and a bit cloudy. Quiet nose that shows a little sweet plum and some floral notes. This could be anything. It's clearly old. I go with a guess of 78 Beaucastel. Nobody picks this as old Italian.

Oct 31st, 2022Tasted blind. Dark red and opaque. Notes of tart cherries, earth, molasses, some wood, and a hint of VA that blew off. Rich fruit in the mouth. Monolithic though, and very quiet compared to the diva 64 Giacosa that is singing next to it. Perhaps it was the less air time that this had. What a treat to taste two great 64 Barolos side by side, brought brown-bagged by two different people.

Feb 16th, 2020Oh boy... a very expressive nose with roses and tar and some raised acidity. Fully mature with sherry notes but lovely balancing soft aged cherry fruit. The midpalate is intense and beautiful. This is long and delicious. Still light woodsy acidity but all kinds of beautifully aged fruit. Wow.
