Sipping Fine Wine

Deep Ruby with aromas of dark berry fruits, with spicy citrus notes. On the palate flavors of black cherry and raspberry with cacao, toasty oak and leather. Well balanced with acidity, fine soft tannins, long finish ending with oak and toasty spice. Good now and short term Nice!

It's Friday, and it is time for my Friday's Cabernet fix. This time it's a Napa Valley Cab.

Beautiful color of dark ruby with a wide reddish rim.

Fruity nose of blueberries, cherries, sweet raspberries, wood, vanilla, smoke, coke, chocolates, coffee, earth, mint, spices, metals and black pepper.

Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with plums, strawberries, cherries, raspberries, wood, earth, vanilla, licorice, vegetables, vinaigrette, acetone, alcohol, peppercorn, leather, tobacco, coffee and dark chocolates.

Nice length on the finish with medium tannins and tart cherries.

This is a nice Napa Cabernet. Fruity with mild complexity, but not fully balanced yet. A little tart on the ending for my taste. Needs a couple of years in the bottle to mature.

This Californian Bordeaux blend needs a couple of hours to open up properly and show some tannins.

Enjoyable by itself or with food like BBQ steak. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

James Suckling 92 points.

A blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, 6% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec. Aged for 20 months in French oak barrels.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

Minerality, black and red fruit on the nose. Medium body, medium tannin, but earthy, minerality and fruity complexity.

Oh my lord. What an extremely balanced, smooth wine. The aroma/nose is perfect, youthful fruits and berries, oak; but the taste is where it's really at. Sublime, smooth, nothing prominent, nothing hidden, all of them sitting in a equal row, like an extremely high end pair of headphones, nearly clinical. High alcohol content, low viscosity, translucent ruby color, presence of gas. What an absolutely incredible wine -- and it's from California!!!

Hey, Napa cab here. Oak smokiness and vanilla, really remarkable nose, like Girard to have a dry, intense, cab. Delish.

Nice cab, but lacked enough nuance to crack 90. Enjoyed at Giada.
