Big tannins, high acid, violets and roses, sour black cherry, rhubarb... all the hallmarks of a great Barolo. At this age it’s got some leather, but there will be more tertiary notes at year 10. A Barolo this big should be good for the long haul. No faults, traditionally produced, delicious... drinking now with the fruit of 2013.

Unusual dusty meaty nose and front palate with restrained dark fruit - pulls up a little short but still very acceptable.

Aug 4th, 2014Still vibrant, maybe just past peak but lovely complexity, smoked meat and jerky with rose and bruised fruit, cocoa powder, little bit of anise and floral, still fresh and evolving in glass. Structure is medium minus, acidity is med plus.

2018 Vintage: shockingly approachable right out of the gate. The tannins were nicely integrated and there was a richness and “heft” to the palate that reminded me of Chambertin…but this is most certainly Barolo and not Burgundy
