Big tannins, high acid, violets and roses, sour black cherry, rhubarb... all the hallmarks of a great Barolo. At this age itโs got some leather, but there will be more tertiary notes at year 10. A Barolo this big should be good for the long haul. No faults, traditionally produced, delicious... drinking now with the fruit of 2013.

Tasted at the Pittsburgh wine festival. Iโll try to rate more of the wines I tasted but for now, hereโs my fave Barolo of the night. ๐น #pghwinefestival

Still vibrant, maybe just past peak but lovely complexity, smoked meat and jerky with rose and bruised fruit, cocoa powder, little bit of anise and floral, still fresh and evolving in glass. Structure is medium minus, acidity is med plus.

Old school showing restraint and tradition. However, the fruit is a bit muted cherry and takes a backseat to earthy tones of forest floor, leather, and dried herbs. Tannins are firm yet balanced, and the finish carries a touch of tar and rose. A solid entry level Barolo.
