#drinksatantonios Light reddish amber color. Translucent. Great perfume from the get go and the nose only gets better with air. Notes of sweet cherries, rose petals, herbs, some anise, some tar. With air some balsamic notes develop. At first this is watery and thin in the mouth. With air it develops structure and firms up. Later in the day this exploded with more complexity fruit and structure. Great old Barolo.

Jan 31st, 2020Aged red fruit, hints of orange rind, pretty softened cherry, very lucid. Great balance and a haunting gentleness to the front end. Very poised. Noticeable dry wood and a little stiff on the finish, with drying tannins but an excellent front.

Unknown vintage (60s?), 720ml bottle. While there's certainly some oxidation here, it's part and parcel of the wine. The fruit and floral aromatics are as insistent as the tannins are silky and resolved. Beautiful, compelling and memorable nebbiolo. Wish I had the extra 30ml.
