Smooth as silk and maybe a bit past mid-life but absolutely perfect with wild boar pasta.

Right in the spot
I reckon this can hardly get much better

Outstanding. Rich, intense tannins with an everlasting finish. Nose of truffles, red cherry, roses. Drinks well, but can cellar another 20 years with no problem.

Still young but smooth and integrated. Delicious dark plum and a solid core of gnarly fruit. Some dried herbs. Lovely balance. Fresh and intense. Needs time to really sing but very polished

Amber tawny color. Looks old in the glass but not overly so. Gave this 6 hours in a decanter before taking it to our restaurant. Has a great old Barolo nose. Notes of Asian tea, soy sauce, roses, black cherries, some leather saddle and a little tar. Silky in the mouth, with a perfume that gains intensity. Still has ample fruit with a nice soft structure that delivers a memorable finish. Great performance tonight, and bottles like this easily have another 5-8 years of peak delivery.

Dark and pure plum on the nose with a hint of tobacco. Quite woozy and plush and scented with floral notes (rose and violet). Supple and savory with great clarity and balance. Very poised and drinking well now. Very good.

Very intense: plum, black cherry, violet, blood, hints of fresh leather. Gorgeous balance and suppleness. A salinity and pungent fruit. Excellent, but young now.

This is serious Barolo at its plateau. Monfortino was not produced in 2009 so the fruit went into cascina francia. It added weight and complexity. Tar, black fruits, peppery. Long burn, outstanding.
