Solid, lighter fruit and more racy than the 2012.

Slight orange tint on the edge reminiscent of Barolo...wait isn’t this what we’re drinking? 🤪
Fresh rosemary, sage. A little hint of cedar. Dried violets. Potpourri.
Medium to full tannins.
Medium acid.
Peppery, unripened plum skin.
Tobacco, leathery. Still very young but drinkable with a hours of decanting. Will make a great breakfast wine if you know what I mean.

“No Name” label made as a protest by Borgogno to the DOCG after originally denied designation. Now bottled as an immediately drinkable Barolo.

Monthly wine group met up and had an Italian wine night at one of the local Italian BYOB spots. Really fantastic Italian wines were brought, as well as some random bottles that were outside the theme (but worthy of opening regardless of theme).

This was my contribution. I’ve posted this once or twice, but it’s worthy of posting again not just because of the wine, but the story. This family is one of Italy’s most storied (their wines were served at the unification of Italy). The winemaker was told because his style was different, though it followed all the rules, they wouldn’t approve one of his barrels to be classified as Barolo. In protest, the winemaker kept his style and gave the wine a name of “No Name”...this is a Barolo wine in everything but the name.

Tar, Rose petals, lots of muddled cherry and blackberry, vanilla pipe tobacco. I bottle decanted for about two hours prior to dinner and that was the sweet spot. Drinking well now and will continue to for the next 5-7years.
