This 7 year old is still drinking beautifully. What a great surprise.
Showing a really nice nose with lots of complexity.
Dry on the palate with a smooth mouthfeel.
Showing blackberries, black currants, cooked cherries, raisins, dried figs, light vanilla, tobacco, dark chocolates, light cola, cedar, spices, light earth and peppercorn.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.
Showing nice complexity, easy drinking and good for parties.
Good right out of the bottle, and better after an hour of airtime, when tannins show up, and bring good structure to the wine.
This is another one of my experiments. I bought a few of these to try them once a year, and see how they evolve. This is my last bottle of this vintage, but it looks like it still has a lot in it.
Good by itself or with food. I paired it with BBQ Meats.

Fruity nose with black currants, black cherries, black plums, oak, vanilla, licorice, mint, alcohol, pencil lead, chocolates, cola, dark coffee and peppercorn.
Full-bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, cloves, herbs, spices, dark chocolates, coffee, peppercorn, vegetables, green herbs and tobacco.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

1 person found it helpfulMar 6th, 2019Dark. Punchy. Someone here described it as a “cola” flavor, and while I didn’t detect it before, I absolutely agree. This is dark jam, tobacco, and damp earth. I’ve always had a soft spot for this wine, and it keeps getting better.

Louis should stay in his lane — tasted like one of those blends that uses 20% good grapes to cover for the rest that’s gone sour. Now, I usually never give such a harsh review, so that being said, you’ll find notes of sour cherries, raspberries, and pot pourri.

Blood and fire color. Aroma is nice. Smoky-cherry licorice. Flavors are juicy. Cherry and and dried berries. Mocha and cherry cola. A good can do blend of CA places.
