Color of deep ruby with shades of purple. Nose is plenty of dark fruits, vanilla, milky chocolate, and indeed some juicy grapes. Taste is following the nose, with mellow tannins, dark fruits notes, milky vanilla, a bit spice and oak, sweetness, and nice touch of acidity and tobacco leaves. Aftertaste of some more cherry jam, tobacco leaves, spice, and medicinal note. Just a bit too sweet for me, crowd pleaser and reminds me of Bogle’s essential red. — 14 days ago

On initial opening, I would’ve sworn this had some merlot in it, as there was a clear mocha note present. However, with air, that dissipated and the 60% cab sauv /40% cab franc came across as nicely integrated and showing more typical of both those grapes, with plum and floral notes coming through clearly. Give it an hour in the decanter or cellar for another year or two. — 3 months ago
