The 2015 Ettore Germano “Serralunga d’Alba” pours a bright garnet color with no signs of sediment. Medium+ viscosity. On the nose, initially a little reticent but some patience and air do wonders with funky raspberries and cherries, tar and red flowers coming through within 15 minutes or so. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannins. Acidity come across medium…bordering on medium+. There is no shortage of nicely ripened raspberry and cherry fruit on the palate with some dried herbs and orange pith too. The roundness of the 2015 vintage comes through but there’s a lot to like and it seems to really come our of its shell with more time. The Serralunga bottling is blend of Cerretta, Lazzarito and Prapo crus.

Inappropriately advanced for 2018. Unacceptable tannic brown wine...stay away from this bottle at all cost. $150 on Pizzeria Bianco wine list. This tastes like a 1960s Barolo.

Elegant and prominent nose with cherries, blackberries and crushed fresh leaves. Juicy acidity, medium -, with a spicy lingering finish. Quite a fun one.
