Smells like fruit punch. Lighter than I expected on the palate.

What a pretty bottle; designed with colour and glitz combined; makes sure you get the message it is wine to drink informally; festive; don't discuss the taste; but if you do it is a cracker for flavour- colour depth- gamay sweetness-easy swallow; ripe and very warm year for Beaujolais shows; #beaujolais #beaujolaisnouveau #beaujolaisnouveau2015 #georgesduboeuf #gamay ; was grapes 10 weeks ago; plump to drink now; 13.5%.

The wine is medium-dark and smells earthy, full of minerals, almost like dirt with a rusty nail stuck in it. Good earth, though. The palate shows plums and dark berries with a hefty dose of those fabulous minerals. Acidity is fresh but not overpowering, while the tannins are firm enough to handle a pork chop, if you like. The finish stays awhile and is somewhat flinty.

Happy to report I really enjoyed it. It had some pleasant tannins to ballast the popping carbonic notes—definitely got the cotton candy and red fruit going on but subtly. Well done Duboeuf. I’ll try my rosé and base level Beaujolais Nouveau soon.

fresh red fruit, mousy, cheesy quality, creamy yogurt; unexpected tannins, longhorn acidic finish #beaujolaisnouveau
