Podium Superiore Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico
With a decade of maturity now, the 2010 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Podium from Garofoli is in a wonderful place and still full of potential. Zesty yellow citrus gives way to notes of nectarine, rich exotic spices and sweet almond. It’s soft and enveloping, not showing the weight often associated with Verdicchio, but instead offering lift and precision. White orchard fruits and minerals cascade across a core of vibrant acids. This is so lively and balanced; a great example of just how beautifully the Verdicchio can age, while closing with pretty inner florals, hints of lime and hazelnut. The 2010 can be lost in the cellar for another ten years if you like, but who can resist it now? (Eric Guido, Vinous, September)

Oct 12th, 2017The 2016 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Podium from Garofoli is just starting to show a bit of mellowing on the nose, opening to notes of ripe yellow apple, sweet florals, almond paste and stone dust. It soothes with silky textures, ushering in flavors of white peach, laced with salty minerals and a twang of green citrus. There’s so much density, giving way to a savory spiciness that lingers in the mouth along with hints of hazelnut. Жасмин, незрелый инжирный персик, огурец, яблочная косточка, анис, миндаль. Приятная горечь в послевкусии. Тельное, при этом свежее вино, с хорошим объемом и балансом кислотности. Ещё молодо, прямолинейно и чуть упрощенно.

Mar 5th, 20162004 poured from a magnum. Huge nose of mint / eucalyptus mixed with anise. More of the same on the palate. Great example of the ageability of this bottling, even in a very hot vintage. Impressive!
