Susucaru Terre Siciliane Nerello Mascalese Rosato
Certainly nothing out there like it. As others have noted, more akin to a light red. The red fruit here (cranberry, strawberry, sour cherry) yields to intense baked earth, herbal, dried rose petal and exotic spice, almost recalling amaro but without any sense of heaviness. Brilliant with cauliflower tikka masala

May 31st, 2022Outstanding. So well balanced. There are a few wines that remind you why they are legendary and this continues to impress me.

Jun 8th, 2024When it’s 72F in early Feb, mosquitos are buzzing and everything is blooming, it’s time to break out a good rosé (and pray for rain). This past week I described Mt Etna wines as having “a smell/taste of sulphur hot springs and wet red River mud—but in a good way!” to two customers (fwiw, one still bought the wine so not a total crash and burn) and this wine has this in spades. A touch a tart red fruit, cinnamon and allspice on the finish. Not a typical rose, nor was I expecting it to be. Like it, but don’t love it.

Feb 13th, 2022Probably the most interesting rose I've ever had. Watermelon, cranberry notes on the nose and a little funk. On the palate, it tastes as though the wine had some soil mixed right in and there are some chalky, gritty notes that never really resolved themselves (even through the course of a day). Drank without food which may have been a mistake (next time that will be the play).
