Les Vasées Mercurey 1er Cru Pinot Noir

The comic sans MS master of Mercurey does it again. His 14’s absolutely thrash. Hugely expressive nose. Big cherry, lipstick like intensity, lovely sous bois, such purity to the aromas. Cherry flower. Just pungent aromas. Juicy and complex with sour tangy mid season cherries and dazzling purity and freshness. Balanced and so much great acidity. Amazingly refined wine that is open now but has so much more to say. Good complexity and a lovely earthy sweetness. Long.

All the freshness and lift of ‘17, matched to raspberry, roasted game bird, spice and a fair bit of tannin. Maybe not as deep and expressive as his 1er Veleys, but fantastic nonetheless.

Very fruity. Not as bold as I would’ve expected

Big, boisterous somewhat wild and untamed nose of wild berries, some sour cherrie, mashed flowers and some sweet violets. Great nose albeit needs 20 minutes to integrate. Terrific freshness and acidity with ample sweetness and detail. Nice structure that suggests 3/5 years this could improve. Lovely wine and Raquillet is a master of Mercurey.

Clean and fresh. Great acid and freshness. Needs time. Excellent purity.

Nose of aromatic fresh cherries. Lots of them. Wet earth. Love Raquillet 1er Cru's. Palate is elegant, fresh, pure and chArmingly rustic with elegant tannins. Terrific fruit and intensity. Great wine. Sour cherry finish. Nice complexity already.

AmAzing fruit quality. Dark and ripe. Juicy and clean. Cru always shows early. Winter 16/17. So juicy and pure. So pure. Earthy and mineral finish. So clean.

Despite its youth, this bottle has pure fruit, some definite earthiness, and clear acid. The finish is a little simple, maybe, but that's really the only knock I have, especially considering the price.

Notes of baked fruit and a little prune, very elegant, tannins are soft and well integrated, long length, wonderful!
