When it comes to the minuscule amount of Marlborough Riesling exported, Framingham remains a reference-point. Framingham is the first New Zealand winery to replicate every tier of the German Prädikats scale - from Kabinett to Trockenbeerenauslese. Their entry-level Riesling too merits consideration - a wine of purity and freshness that resonates with gorgeous flavors of apple skin, white petals, and frozen pears.

For a 2014 it felt a bit evolved. Flowers and white boned fruit. Easy

Fragrant nose of lemon blossom, nectarine skins and lime, and then bursting with fresh, grapey vitality on the palate. Off-dry, harmonious with proper, pure citrus length (no cordial-like sense; fresh).

This is another Kiwi Riesling our Melbourne family decided to kindly share from their cellar.

Fun fact, I use to sell Framingham Wines when I worked at NZ wine retailer, Glengarry, 10 years ago while at uni in Auckland!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This Framingham 2013 Classic Riesling hails from NZ’s Marlborough Region (top of South Island). They are based in Blenheim and have some of the oldest Riesling vines in Marlborough dating back to 1981.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This bottle had a bit of age on it though the colour in the glass didn’t give that away with its pale lemony-green shade. Wonderful fresh lemon curd with hints of lanolin and baking spice waft up from the glass while I found peaches and grapefruit on the palate. I’d like to try this one again in a few years ☺️

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

I enjoyed this Framingham 2015 Classic Riesling on my recent trip to Auckland. Oh how I love the fact you can buy wine in the supermarkets in New Zealand!

Framingham are based in Blenheim in the Marlborough region (top of the South Island) and they have some of the country’s oldest Riesling vines (1981). They are also accredited as an environmentally sustainable vineyard and a winery with organic Estate viticulture practices. Approx NZ$25.

The Riesling is a lemon lime colour on the eye. Fresh minerals, lime, mandarins and banana passionfruit stand out on the nose for me. In the mouth it’s juicy and off-dry (it had me craving Thai food!) with a lick of effervescence to it.
