Popped and poured. The 2017 Domaine du Clos Naudin, “Sec” pours a deep straw color, medium viscosity with no signs of sediment or gas. On the notes, the wine is developing with beautiful notes of stone fruits; peaches and apricots with melon and some associated fruit cup notes. There’s a honeysuckle floral component too. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+/high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and there is some really attractive texture. Impeccable balance. I get the sense that this will age well. Drink now and through 2030.

When I contrast this Chenin Blanc with Huet I imagine the Foreau stays close to its character for life: not quite austere, but serious & pedigreed. With 8 years on it already could easily ingest another decade or so with no less for wear & tear. The Huet on the other hand goes through Zelig like changes, and at times tastes purely Burgundian while others it’s more Viognier- like.

Beautiful! Yellow apple, Meyer lemon, quince, chamomile, honey. Drinking nicely, really like this!

Well…this made my heart pitter-patter. The 2015 Foreau Vouvray “Sec” currently pours a deep straw color with medium+ viscosity. On the nose, medium+ intensity, with lanolin, peach and lemon. On the palate, the stone fruits, citrus and lanolin are also present with a lovely run of minerals. The texture is simply divine. The wine is dry but a little RS there just because. Soaring high acid makes the mineral finish forever long and gives the overall impression of freshness. A fabulous Vouvray Sec drinking so well at the moment and delicious pairing with our first courses.

Ah Chenin. I’ll always come home to you. 2016 is such a classic vintage; this is juust starting to open up and hit its stride.

Honey, jasmine, pear, fierce acid, balanced by impeccably subtle sweetness.

Definitive weight and texture of Chenin. Gold in the glass and slightly oxidative. Honey and beeswax but very dry. Even better on day two where the acid has settled down and the palate is brimming with yellow orchard apples.

Election night CB. Very nice—green apples, yellow plum, lots of zip. Not hugely long or complex but enjoyable now and could age longer

Was a little muted out of the gate but put on weight and intensity with air. Give it at least an hour or another couple years. Very linear at this point
