Wet pavement juice under a dazzling rainbow

One of the bottles brought back from a trip I took to Umbria in Fall 2024. Love revisiting this wine and makes me ache to go back! Nose - Clay, wet soil and minerals. Flavors - unripe cranberries and Sweet Tart candies and unsweetened Cool Aid. Healthy tannins. The tannins smooth out at the end on the finish with in hint of sweetness.

Blend of Sangiovese (60%) and Montepulciano (40%). Bright (but light) garnet/ruby color. Aromas and flavors of red and black berry fruit, dusty herbs, violets, tar, minerals and forest floor with a pleasant earthy finish. Medium-light body with bright acidity. Very rustic and natural in style with a slight Frizzante note. Fresh tasting and bright. Handles a bit of a chill.

Another outstanding bottle from Fongoli! Umbrian red, 60% Sangiovese 40% Montepulciano. Funky and delightful.

Weird fizz. A little funk which I don’t like but jeff loves. It’s a guy thing. Finish has nice grip.
