Folded Hills
August Red Santa Ynez Valley Syrah Grenache
Reddish in color with medium intensity, and a wide reddish rim.
Strong nose of red fruits and light chocolates notes.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with sweet raspberries, black cherries, light oak, red candy, spices, chocolates, spices and peppercorn.
Tangy finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 7 year old Grenache blend from Santa Ynez Valley is drinking very nicely now. Tangy and spicy. Fruit forward with nice complexity.
Peaking now, and drinks like a heavier Pinot Noir. I had this vintage 4 years ago and it is drinking much better now.
Good right out of the bottle, but becomes very aromatic after 2 hours of airtime.
Good by itself or with food. Paired nicely with the Canadian double Brie cheese.
A blend of 67% Grenache and 33% Syrah.
13.9% alcohol by volume.
90 points.
$45.

The flavours and aromas are a strange blend between #châteauneuf and #calipinot for me. Medium+ intensity of aromas. Blood, garrigue and sagebrush. Citrus and red currant. It has surprisingly tangy acidity and yet lacks the polished and balanced finish one would expect for the price of this wine. It also lacks mid palate weight/concentration. I’m not familiar with the vineyard, but it seems like the winemaker wanted to control the alcohol and the ripeness of #santaynezvalley and either harvested early or directly added water. The finish is long #gsm #blend #californianwine #sbcounty #sbcountywines

Fruity nose of bing cherries, blueberries, spices, barnyard, earth, vegetables, coffee and peppercorn.
Smells like a California Pinot Noir.
Medium bodied with medium acidity and nice legs.
Dry on the palate with blueberries, cherries, strawberries, light oak, spices, vegetables, herbs and black pepper.
Medium finish with soft tannins and cherries.
This Is a very nice Rhône blend from Santa Ynez Valley, in California. Nicely balanced with a nice and soft mouthfeel.
Easy drinking and fruit forward. Good right out of the bottle and good by itself or with food.
I paired it with cheeses and crackers, and was very nice with the Brie cheese.
