Finally getting around to posting wines from my annual Napa trip from two weeks ago. Always goes by quick! Lots of fun new stops this year.

One of the main reasons we go to Napa every year is to attend the Trilogy Release party. Trilogy holds a special place in my family’s heart and it’s always a treat to visit the estate where they pour it like water!

Very good now, and time will obviously help. Their Rutherford Hillside Reserve is my favorite single vineyard offering, but this is a close second. Lots of richly dark chocolate coated red, blue and black berry fruits, baking spices, plum and graphite aromatics. It drinks with added notes of dusty/chalky plum, cedar, and savory herbal spice.

Pre-Release.
Deep and dark ruby red. Lovely and thick nose with dark cocoa, lots of bright red cherries, cinnamon and more baking spices. Heavy tannins (8/10) and drying. Lots of red berries, especially cherries on the palate. Some twigs and earthiness too. Long and lingering finish that needs some time. Little bit of heat in the finish. Drink till 2030.

Delicious and dark garnet red. Forest floor some light truffles. Lots of dark cherries. Moderate tannins (6/10) and medium plus body. Tons of black and red fruits, well integrated. Long and lingering finish

Out of my own collection. Continues to drink incredibly fresh. Still very much primary but is starting to show good minerality and bay leaf components. Will return to this in another 5+ years. Has some major longevity!

So soft and silky. St Helena Rennie amazingly subtle and yet complex. This drank so well without that punch in the face drone overripe fruit or large tannins of most cabs.
