Preta Vinho Regional Alentejano Touriga Nacional Blend

2021 vintage. Note that there is no Touriga Nacional in this wine, it is a blend of 40% Aragonêz, 30% Alicante Bouschet, 20% Trincadeira and 10% Castelão. Fitapreta was the project of young winemaker António Maçanita and the late consultant David Booth ( who sadly died from a heart attack at age 47 in 2012). Maçanita favours minimal intervention, indigenous yeasts and low sulfites. Terrific value, bursting with fruit and spices with a ripe tannic backbone. Aged 50% in stainless steel and 50% in neutral barrels. Abv. 14,5%.

Deep ruby; medium intensity aromas of red and black fruit, red plum, black cherry, black raspberry, plum skin, funky mineral, cheese rind; dry, medium plus acid, medium tannins, high alcohol, medium body, medium intensity flavors consistent with aromas; good

Intense and feral - pine resin, jasmine, blood orange, ripe plum and black licorice. #sommcon

Solid mid bodied red wine, reminds me of a GSM

Nice dark purple color. Nose: grapey, spicy. Meh. Taste: herbal, floral, medicinal, light wood. Nice acidity. Bone dry, much less fruit than expected. I can tell it is well made. 87-88

Fr, 11.02.2022: m Sonja, Thomas, Balz

Notes of minerality and pepper and very easy on the palate. Probably would have been best to decant it beforehand but it settled down nicely.
