Mamoré de Borba

Alentejo Arinto Blend 2016

Mason Balistreri

I had no idea that Portugal did so many amphora aged wines! I've been really impressed with the quality of these whites; again no sulfites and unfiltered for the most part. They remind me of sicily and even a little bit of Jura. This bottle had a minty, basil thing going on with the nose. Really intriguing. #naturalwine #amphora #sisab #portugalwine — 11 days ago

Fundação Eugénio de Almeida (Cartuxa)

Évora Colheita Branco White Blend

Mason Balistreri

A very serious wine that has tons of acidity and clarity. There's a richness here that can come from only one thing: extensive lees stirring... And sure enough that's what they do. Very good wine that reminds me a bit of some burgundy. #portugalwine #lees#sisab — 10 days ago

Reserva Vinho Regional Alentejano Red Blend 2012

Big, Dark and Chewy are the words that come to mind here. Three Native Portuguese grape blend. Aromas and flavors of Dark Cherry, Plums, Tobacco and Beef Jerky. Extremely long finish. Total expression of Old World wine. Excellent. — 12 days ago

Dona Maria

Amantis Reserva Vinho Regional Alentejano 2015

JL tasting Portugal Brira interior 2/20/18. $21. All Viognier. Interesting nose that's complex floral laced with stones. Deeper color. Six months in oak. Very fresh and acidic, lively on palate with hints of wood. Woods comes through in long acidic finish. Complex. Interesting that aromatic on palate. Can age. Says what Viognier was like originally. — 2 days ago

Herdade Do Rocim

Amphora Branco Alentejo White Blend

Mason Balistreri

It ferments and ages in clay and they leave the stems on the whole time, creating a natural draining system. Not as dark as I would expect but very much textured. — 11 days ago

Margarida Cabaço

Monte dos Cabaços Colheita Seleccionada 2009

A rich, full-bodied wine. It welcomes you with the deepest, darkest purple you have ever seen, almost black in color. Then, the aroma invistes you with dark blackberry, mulberry and a violet scent to a dense, firm mouthful of fruit along with fine tannins. It almost reminds you of a young Bordeaux. But then, no, as it’s spicy black pepper tingle and more violets and exotic notes come out. What would absolutely stun you is to find out was there is no oak used on this wine. The tannins are silky with time, but, make no mistake, this is a BIG wine. Often, that is achieved with oak. But here, it is just a reflection of the grapes and the touch nature of Alentejo! Unbelievable! — 15 days ago

Very ripe but high tannin and acidity support it. Attractive oak, not excessive. Excellent. — 2 days ago
