Part 1 of a Columbia county weekend w/friends: a surprisingly rs leaning Sicilian white- accent on the white flowers & fruit, lower on acid. Never tasted this varietal. Rather a broad mouthfeel that went well w local charcuterie, cheese, & jaw dropping tomato salad w garden basil. This vintner makes also a spry Nero D’Avola.

Subtle white and yellow bouquet, touch of mint and bay leaf, Mayer lemon and tangerine peel and apricot. Mineral with round mouthfeel. Med plus acidity. What a lovely white. Rocky, sandy soil, iron rich. 55 yr old vine. Sur lies with botonnage in cement containers for 6 month.

Had porcini and truffle risotto with the wine. Heaven!

I love the nose. A great savory aspect dominates, which my wife says smells like salami. That’s savory enough for me. The palate leans the same way, with rocks, lime and minerals so strong. A great acidity makes for a wine that’s easy to pair with food. I had mine with the fritatta alla salsiccia. It’s a wine that was seemingly made for eggs and sausage.
