Felton Road
Bannockburn Riesling
The aroma gives away the wine's origin, at least for me, with petrol and rubbery hints tickling the nasal passages. Lemon, lime, pineapple, honey, crushed stone, and rose petals ensue. The taste is like a sweeter-styled Spatlese. It leads with notes of honeyed citrus and cream, finishing with bruised apples, burnt sugar, and nuanced minerality. The flavours linger for a while, but is ultimately dominated by cloying sweetness. That is not to say that acidity was lacking, because the finish definitely sparkled with the cut of steely acidity on the tongue, but the sugar still persisted over this. The 15' Felton Road Bannockburn Riesling certainly looks well-made, but leaves me looking for some relief after a few glasses. Food wine for me.

Nov 10th, 2019Sublimely balanced with racy acidity and a light lusciousness of of Key lime & sweet peach. Terrifically long finish with whispers of mineral tones.

Apr 6th, 2018Showing TDN now, bringing on the petrol. Touch of green leaf Magnolia, and nice balance of sweet to acid.

1 person found it helpfulOct 22nd, 2014No petrol on the nose. White & yellow florals, soft, subtle, fresh, citrus of; lemon, lime, grapefruit, pineapple, light stone fruits and light, soft minerality. On the palate, such freshness of fruit; pineapple, lemon, lime, grapefruit, stone fruits, melons, gentle and soft minerality. The medium body & finish is pure, elegant, round, lush, exotic & sexy. Not to mention perfect acidity. Photos of another perspective of the properties sensational vistas, Sofia walking the grounds and the Cellar Door.

May 10th, 2017Otago really has some great Riesling.
This one reminds me of a Feinherb from the Mosel with a meyer lemon/lemon verbena twist.
Really improves with some time/air.
I much prefer this wine to the "dry" version FR makes.
