Trying the ‘13 vintage. Glad I found it. Needs a couple of hours to open up, then it is smooth, and nicely balanced.

There's some of the sour cherry happening on the nose and palate, but it certainly isn't a fruit-driven wine. Perfect partner for the homemade pizzas, but as a stand-alone wine this might be a tough sip.

Smells like chianti, tastes like chianti, but not like very good wine. Low acidity and lack of concentration are the main detractors.

Bretty, and the latex notes dominate the aromatic profile, although underneath there are touches of cherries and cedar. It’s woodsy on the palate, too, with tawny acidity and a finish like cigars and cherry spice. Interesting, but alas, not amazing, and the Brett kills it for me. 14.5% abv | $22
