Totally worth the hangover. This is still young and would go for another decade. Such a prominent nose of smoke and sulfur mixed with bright raspberries and cherry tart. It’s a beautiful balance of earthy delights like moss, violet, and bramble alongside sweetly ripened cherry and raspberry. Wonderful balance of mineral strength and floral finesse. Might need to get a few of these.

Nov 13th, 2022Terrific bottle of a very Burgundian style of Oregon pinot noir that would surely fool many in a blind tasting. The last time I had Evesham Wood I think it was the just-released 1998 or 1999 - wish I hadn't let them fly under my radar all these years. It's ready to go from the pop of the cork, no sweet New World froot here, instead it's already winey but still having a sizable scale and a very solid, robust presence with stony flavors to go along with it - it reminds me very much of a Corton, though with a bit more rosy florality seeping in around the edges. It turns more feminine with the florals moving to the foreground with air, very gentle in its weight.
