Tasted blind. Medium gold color. Oxidative nose. Notes of citrus and baked apples, with a little caramel. Rich in the mouth. Modest fruit, light acidity. You can tell this has the stuffing of a great Montrachet, but clearly this bottle had more age than it should. I guessed “a poorly stored 92 Leflaive”. The 86 Niellon next to it looked 13 yrs younger rather than its 13 yrs older. Sadly the pox got this one.

Interesting my notes said “Similar to No. 1” which was also a Sauzet and one of the Montrachets. Noticeable caramel oak , but they do that as these are built for the long haul. Palate staining intensity. Amazing Wine. $2500 in Australia.

Beautiful Meyer lemon, green apple, honey and a faint touch of butterscotch, thick and waxy, nice acidity, round and finished well but lack some on the mid palate. Indicative of the 07 vintage.

Possibly the best white wine I have ever had. Balanced, concentrated, outrageously long. Textural. Ethereal. Mouth wrapping acid and flavours. No words really.

2012. Big but the minerality brings to balance.

A young Montrachet that needs more time in bottle to incorporate. Notable oak, excited to see it incorporate into the wine over the next several years.
