14 was amazing, 11 was a hot vintage and it shows. Has those port like elements.

Another world famous Wine Nerd Herd Virtual Tasting this time on the docket was Spanish wines. This 100% Grarnacha showed in full force...caramel and violets on the nose-delicate in so many ways, not overly oaked, such fine balance and precision that speaks of a hybrid of old and new world. Drinks well now, yet has many many years ahead of it. @thewinenerdherd

Pronounced “Es-peck-tuckle dell Mont-sunt.” Located in so-called armpit of Spain’s prestigious wine country principally because of its rustic quality. I read the wine is called “Spectacle” because it showed the wine world its natural potential was detracted by lack of literacy & operating capital. Intense fruit nose with sweet spice. Palate is somewhat tight & heavy with black fruits, sweet cacao & pepper spice. Big tannins, well balanced with lingering finesse, ending with a jolt of spice. Tasting Sample. Needs time or decanting!

A bright and fruity nose. Almost gamay-like. Cherry and spicy pepper. Light and fragrant. Really poised on the mid palate. Pure, clear and dazzling. The winemaker isn’t getting in the way of the wine. Could be a quality Pinot but is 100 year plus aged Grenache vines. Great.

Soft and broad nose of plummy fruit with minerality. Very intense on the palate with a blast of alcohol. Super clean

Pronounced “Es-peck-tuckle dell Mont-sunt.” Located in so-called armpit of Spain’s prestigious wine country principally because of its rustic quality. Deep Ruby with intense fruit aromas and sweet floral spice, aged 15 mos in French oak, from a warm dry vintage. On the palate flavors of blackberry, plum and raspberry with currants, sweet cacao, floral & pepper spice. Fine big tannins, well balanced with long finish finesse, ending with herb and spice, adding slight alcohol warmth.
