Wow. I’m on a roll with shitty bottles - bretty and volatile; worse with air. Still some red fruits lingering if it’s any consolation.

So closed that you'd need power tools to open it. Despite a hard decant, the nose was just all sulphury reduction and smoke. Very tannin-forward on the palate - astringent almost, with just hints of red fruits lurking in the background. Combined with high acidity, this was far from a joy to drink. From the previous bottle opened, it looks like an overnight slow-ox (12h) would be required to make this drinkable, and even then reduction was still present.

Lots to love about the 2019 Migan once you get past the highly reductive aromas and unripe tannins. With air, the reductive notes do meld into the peppery, floral, red-cherry bouquet, appearing as a smoky, Chinese herb-spice mix note. Saline and tart on the palate, with cherries, cranberries, and spiced meat, as well as a hint of bitterness that gives the finish a sort of stoney quality. Very mineral in short. It’s quite engrossing really, but I’d recommend not to chew in any bit when you drink this, as the tannic-forward nature can be quite distracting.

Love this: great salinity, tart, sour red fruit. Great alone and also with fish.

Tangy red fruit and a little funky, in a good way. One of those you can drink slightly chilled during the summer.

Fun wine. Light bodied and a little one dimensional.

The most volcanic wine I’ve had. All the graphite and stone. Is sweet mushroom a thing? A little hollow in mid palette, with a pretty perfume wood finish.

I was hoping for a bit more. Earthy. Interesting, but very subtle fruit notes. Never really blossomed.
