Domenica Amato Bacigalupi Vineyard Chardonnay
Wasn’t expecting such a big Chardonnay - this is full throttle! (And it impressed the resident Chardonnay aficionado, aka my better half). Stone fruits, peach nectar, butterscotch, a touch of vanilla, citrus and minerals on the finish. Creamy texture with very decent acid. Long finish. Beautiful. Thanks for this bad ass in a glass @Martin G Rivard

1 person found it helpfulFeb 18th, 2018Most of you know the Bacigalupi vineyard was one of the fruit sources of the ‘73 Montelena Chardonnay that kicked ass at the ‘76 Paris Tasting....but this sensational treat from @Martin G Rivard is my first exposure to this winery. Astonishing poise and balance, toasted oak, citrus flowers. Legitimate gravitas. It’s good to have cool, generous friends. My sincere thanks Martin.

1 person found it helpfulJan 25th, 2018I know, I know...it’s a ‘16. A baby! But @Martin G Rivard sent one my way and I just couldn’t stay away from it! I’m not sure you can find a better sub $60 bottle of Chardonnay out there, especially coming from Bacigalupi! This is from the Judge Palmer guys (their Napa Cab is fantastic).
Pours fairly faint yellow in the glass. It was very citrus driven the first 30-45 mins. At the hour mark, you could notice a substantial change. The tart, citrus fruits on the nose gave way to more complex notes of shaved almonds and a bit of butterscotch. Acidity is pretty high, and you can tell there is a backbone here that will allow this to age a few years easily. This is only going to get better! Martin, a killer bottle of chard! I just had to try it!

1 person found it helpfulJun 24th, 2017Bright pale yellow. Creamy on the attack, definitely seems to have a bit of new oak. White and stone fruit undertones. Moderate and inviting acidity (7/10). Strong fruits on the attack with white and stone fruits. A touch creamy and toasty in the mid palate, almost some apple pie. Medium plus body with a long and lingering finish. Drink till 2025.

Jun 1st, 2019Wow. Just plain gorgeous. Orange blossom, wet river stones, Lemon curd, paper matches, Granny Smith apple. Laser focused, clean and bright. Very little meddling from man; the terrior shows through beautifully. @Martin G Rivard is the man for sharing this bad boy with me! Thank you as always, HFIC! Looking forward to seeing you and Christine soon.
