Light and poised. Raspberry, plum, black cherry, roses. A really gorgeous chambolle-like nose. The palate not as intense but quite brooding and savory. Detailed and quite long.

Tasted blind. Reddish tawny and young looking. Intense nose. Notes of raspberry, rhubarb, camphor, mocha, Asian spice and dark soil. Rich and intense in the mouth. We’re told this was given lots of air – which led guesses to be red burg more in the late 90s or 00’s. The reveal was exciting as none of us have had a bottle from this vigneron before. Super high quality juice, still on it’s upward climb. This juice will be around, giving pleasure to those that have it, for another decade or two and will undoubtedly improve with more age.

Surprisingly structured, could use more time. Delicious.

Power. Depth. Dark cherry. The vintage tales over with exuberance. Give this plenty of time.

Never ending fruit, extremely round already for a 2014. Fabulous wine.

Monsieur Rouget suffered a nervous breakdown on 2nd day of harvest, so a certain Uncle vinified the 1997.

So young but wide open and generous already. Pure, sweet never ending fruit but the texture was the most intriguing. Round, silky, voluminous and jello-like.

Powerful nose of dark fruits . Surprisingly it was not the palate that I was expecting given the vintage. While certainly not a shrinking violet the palate was concentrated but not ponderous . Flavors of black cherry, plums, spice and some oak notes. I was very pleased no alcohol heat. Definitely structure there but something tells me this will not be a long distance runner.

L’emporte
