Egly-Ouriet
Extra Brut Grand Cru Champagne Blend
Ambonnay, Montagne de Reims, Champagne, France

The nose shows, melange of orange citrus, green/red apple, Bosc pear, slightly, dryish yellow & white peach, Meyer lemon to meringue pie with crus, lime with zest, overripe pineapple/cantalope, cream, soft, white spice, vanillin, graham cracker, brioche, saline, chalk & limestone marl, yellow lilies/flowers & pink roses.
The palate mousse is rich, round and elegant. Melange of orange citrus, green/red apple, Bosc pear, slightly, dryish/candied yellow & white peach, Meyer lemon to meringue pie with crus, lime with zest, overripe pineapple/cantalope, cream, marmalade tones, hints of honeysuckle soft, white spice, vanillin, touch of mint, graham cracker, brioche, saline, grey volcanic, minerals, crisp chalk & limestone marl, yellow lilies/flowers & pink roses with greens. Excellent rainfall acidity, nice structure/tension, well balanced, elegant, smart, polish with a minutes finish that lands on beautiful, softened minerality.
Disgorged 7/25, 1g making it really a Nature. 48 months on lees.

2017 Base wine. Not the best bottling of this wine.

12/22 disgorgement, so 2017 vintage base. Not as impressive as other, vintage based disgorgements.

Always struggled with their style and further adding to that struggle is their price point. While they are a known quality producer, oxy just isn’t my wheelhouse.
Bruised apple & Bosc pear, apple cider, grapefruit, marzipan, saline, some caramel notes, yeastiness, bread dough, crisp chalkiness, limestone marl, touch of unsweetened graham crackers, withering yellow lilies, pleasant acidity and while it has a nice structure, balanced, but the finish falls into an unpleasant over oxidative bitterness/bite.

Pale gold hue. Aromas and flavors of apple, brioche, cream, peach, pear, minerals, and saline. Medium body and high acidity. Long finish. Balanced and beautiful. 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay.

Mar 9th, 20242018 base. Outstanding. Stone and austerity mask ripe lemon curd, stone fruit and baking spice. The palate is wow, with ethereal mouthfeel, a lightness that you wouldn’t expect from the ripe profile and layers of length and complexity

Extra brut. Assemblage base vendage 2017. Disgorged December 2022. Dosage 2g/L. So well balanced. Color is gold. Apricots, some baked apple, minerals galore, a bit of brightness like lime, biscuit. Finish is full with more stone fruit, almond biscotti, key lime. Just invites me back for more. Outstanding.
