Gorgeous nose of paprika, white pepper, peach pit, hint of petrol which is a bit odd at this young age, apricot and peach flesh. Very complex and perfumed. Palate is chewy, young and regal. So refined and aristocratic. Really classy and super pure. Long finish. Tangerine, citrus and peach and apricot on the long, complex and very mineral finish. Young but stunning.

Bad cork, but good wine. Aromatically closed (like many 09's atm) which never really opened up as the night progressed, but you can certainly see the quality. Ripe and dense on the palate, with a fruit profile that treads on being bruised and plenty of spice notes, restrained by racy acidity and stony minerality. In comparison with the 09' Koehler Ruprecht Saumagen Spatlese trocken R, this looked rounder. Basically, less elegant and probably more like the Auslese trocken. Like the KR, it finished slightly warm, giving it's vintage away in the blind. There's also a touch of phenolic bitterness and oiliness in the mid-palate, which was a bit bothersome to me. The weakest wine of the night, but I think it will blossom in a couple of years.

Soil had high volcanic basalt content. Lithe. Tropical fruit mixed with mountain stones. Truly delicious. Even more giving on the nose than the Langenmorgen.

Medium gold in colour. Clean nose, medium intensity, developing kero notes as well floral and stone fruit. Medium bodied with some oxidative characters and a medium finish. A good wine which could age. Expensive at $92 for what it is.

Warmer year and more fruit comes into dominance - with apricots and some honey, too. At first glance this doesn’t add to the wine... but after the first moments the structure & minerality shines through.. I prefer it in colder vintages (eg 16) though.

A bit broader & fuller, coming from heavier clay soils. Nice round mouthfeel with a mineral streak of green lemons piercing through. Nice balance and drinking beautifully right now.
