The 2016 Cenerentola is darkly alluring and spicy, showing ripe strawberries, plums, ginger, clove and hints of cocoa powder. It’s silky with broad textures, energized by brisk acidity, as tart wild berries cascade across a mineral core, adding tactile grip toward the close. This finishes long, as fine grippy tannins tug at the palate, along with tart red fruits and a bitter twang of sour citrus. The Cenerentola is an exciting wine to taste, as it contains 35% Foglia Tonda, a native grape of the region which almost went extinct, with Sangiovese as the balance of the wine. The 2016 isn’t quite ready to reveal all of its charms, yet another year or two of cellaring should result in something very special. (Eric Guido, Vinous, January 2022)

Good but I feel like something is missing, maybe it was pairing with Sunday Ragu!

Deep ruby; medium plus intensity aromas of blackberry, black plum, anise, vanilla, baking spices; dry, medium acid, high tannins, high alcohol, full bodied, medium plus intensity flavors of ripe black fruit, sweet baking spices, vanilla; long finish, very concentrated, tannins a bit overpowering, very good

Nose of meat and concentrated fruit, with high alcohol. Definitely some tannic grip, but not cray cray. Red fruit up front and a little in the back, but missing a middle. Puckery from the tannins, but otherwise a nice and long tomato finish.

I feel kind of bad rating this one a 9.1. It's a good wine. Just a little heated and a little unbalanced right now and IMO capable of much more. Perhaps time will take this one to a new place. The nose of this wine is boysenberry and a bit of plum and fig. The entry is darker fruits, with bright acidity. Soil terroir. The middle of this wine turns a little darker, yet just doesn't seem to have a lot there. The finish is more acidic, but perhaps a little unbalanced. More red fruit on the finish, with some plum undertones. Quite delicious when the notes ARE there, and seems capable. I really look for this wine to work its problems out over the next few years, including the problem of having a not-so-defined middle.

Amazing Tuscan goodness. Stayed at Colle and picked up this gem there. Women wine makers doing some pretty cool stuff!
