Domenico Clerico
Barolo Nebbiolo
This weekend we opened the 2018 Domenico Clerico Azienda Agricola Di Viberti Giuliana-Monforte D' Alba Barolo.
On the nose there is cherry, raspberry, cranberry, licorice, roses, clay pots and dusty soil.
On the palate there is cherry, raspberry, cranberry, anise, rose hip, leather and dried herbs.
This wine is medium to full bodied medium+ to high acidity and medium+ firm tannins that move into a long red and black fruit leathery finish. Enjoy the weekend and please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! š·š·š·š·

May 25th, 2021Ripe red cherries, a hint of tar layered with rose petals followed by a firm finish coupled with fresh tobacco. The wine is still quite young and needs to settle down. Alcohol in this wine is quite high.

Nov 26th, 2020Latest vintage from imho a great producer, this wine is rather dark in color for the variety, ruby red with brick hues, clear; boquet of flowers and a concentrated dark-fruity nose with cherries, tobacco leaves, tar, and some light chocolate; rich tannic on the palate with dried dates and cherries, and a long chest burning delicious finish. Had with Danish and French cheeses and Spanish ham. Finally Friday!

Nov 6th, 2020Medium garnet; medium plus intensity aromas of tart red cherry, red plum, blackberry, dried rose petals, dried tarragon, dry earth; dry, medium plus acid, high tannins, high alcohol, full body, medium plus intensity flavors, fruits a bit darker on palate than on nose; medium finish, full of tart fruit, herbal and floral notes; very good

New straight Barolo bottling from Clerico and a well done job at that. Accessible early with a good decant. Will be terrific in a couple of years.
