Grand Clos Rousseau Santenay 1er Cru Pinot Noir

A very nice way to celebrate my Diploma results, from one of my favourite villages. Very good with ostrich burger.

Dried herbs, gravelly minerals. Red and black fruits (ripe red cherry, black cherry, red apple skin, pomegranate). Fine tannins and good acids. Long grenadine/cherry finish. Southernmost Beaune region. Think herb-roasted duck.

Super wound up and showing good fruit but will be fun to see how it evolves in the next hour

Darker & burlier than 2017 with forest fruit compote, some undergrowth and an uplifting, herby pine note. Some lavender too, perhaps?
Tannins quite pronounced and slightly drier with a dark fruit acidity balancing out. Something’s lacking. Not as light & long as 2017.

Fresh and vibrant with tart rasberry, undergrowth and a intriguing mix of mushroom and wet earth. On the palate quite smooth, with juicy acidity and medium tannins. The wood is very nicely integrated leaving a nicely rounded ending. This is drinking very nicely.

Lots of earth/funk upon opening which blew off a bit and then the wine and opened up nicely over 90 minutes in the decanter. Decent value and clear old world character.

Yowza! Bang for your buck here.

Beautiful! Classic, exactly what I'm look for in a Burgundy.
