The 2017 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a primal bouquet of black cherry and crushed strawberry fruit, becoming more confit-like with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit and fine depth and poise. Crisp and taut with a pleasant brittle texture toward the finish. It needs time, but it will come good in the end. 2012 vintage. Last tasted 5.11.23. Two attempts at this wine tonight. First bottle slightly corked. Second bottle really nice but not drinking as well (9.5) as the same wine in May 2023 despite similar handling and time commitments. 1.20.24.
