Domaine Serene
Grand Cheval Red Blend
Unusual blend of Pinot Noir and Syrah has the finesse of Pinot and the juiciness of Syrah it has high acidity and a plush texture with plenty of blackberry and black cherry alongside the Pinot’s spiraling red fruit including wild strawberry, raspberry and violet. It’s just beginning to show some tertiary character with forest floor and a hint of mushroom. Long finish.

Oct 10th, 2020This is a big boy that would be killer with some heavy game or ribs. Bacon grease and baking soda on the nose. Muddled dark berries and well balanced acidity with a heavy body. Long, powerful finish with good mild spices.

Jan 26th, 2019Tasted yesterday with @domaineserene president, Ryan Harris, the Grand Cheval 2013 is a blend of 80% Syrah from Walla Walla's outstanding The Rocks District AVA. The balance of this uncommon blend is a dollop of Pinot Noir from Domaine Serene's Mark Bradford vineyard. Sumptuous, lifted aromas of boysenberries, rhubarb, violets, loamy earth, graphite and spice. It's broad shouldered, yet fresh and refined, with black fruit anchored in fine, sueded tannins, followed by a subtle burst of acidity that terminates in peppery bliss.
