Domaine Santa Duc
Aux Lieux-Dits Gigondas Red Rhone Blend
Gigondas, Southern Rhône, Rhône, France

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. The 2020 “Aux Lieux-Dits” pours a deep garnet with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of fresh, ripe brambles, garrigue, red flowers, and inorganic earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. There is a solid sense of place from this expression. Drink now through 2035.

Feb 8th, 2026A solid offering from an iffy vintage. Lavender, dark berries, and sweet spices come together in this medium to full bodied wine. Lean tannins and some good acidity mean this wine will age well for another 4-5 years.

Impeccably balanced and fresh. Blackberry and cherry, garrigue and spice. Tannins are pronounced but ripe, the wine is young and seamlessly textured.

Oct 24th, 2015Spice box - black pepper corns - grit (tannins) - young and vibrant , huge potential for aging here

Dark red fruit, oxidative notes, stewed fruit, plum, pencil lead, cola, molasses, and ripe black fruit. Medium plus body, high tannins, high alcohol, high acid, and long finish. Drink now with all the tertiary stuff going on, which surprises me given the vintage is only 5 years old.

Hints of mint and herbs on the nose, cherry and licorice and garrigue on the tongue. A bit of alcohol burn mid palate. Forward tannins but well integrated. Nice peppery finish.

Raspberry, cranberry sauce, and dried currant on the nose. The palate displays dried cranberry, dark cherry, cedar, new oak, cinnamon, and cocoa. High alcohol, medium tannins, and high acid. Big, powerful, and fruity red.
