Amazing what a decant can do sometimes. Typically my favorite Roulot Lieux-dit that often easily performs at 1er cru level, 2013 Tessons begins a bit flabby and exotic tonight, showing more of the vintage than I’d like. But with aeration it gains focus and energy and really comes together beautifully taming its ripeness with layered minerality and just enough acidity driving all of its flavors home. Great turnaround.

Gold in color. On the nose a touch of butterscotch. The palate is still fresh with pear and wet stone. Long and pure and clean but a touch advanced. I don’t think premoxed, but definitely ahead of where you’d expect it

Feb 12th, 2023I really like the vintage for Roulot. It’s so fresh, vibrant and energetic and time in bottle has really allowed it to come together nicely to show a balanced expression of ripe stone fruit, white flowers and citrus inflicted acids with a stony mineral backbone. Got better and better with air. Can never go wrong with Roulot!

Needs a little more bottle age this one, the '12's are singing right now so maybe another year or so.

Reticent at first, but it gains serious intensity and minerality with air. The fruit is lush, concentration quite remarkable, yet astoundingly weightless - a real lesson in tension. This is clearly treading into 1er territory.

I would probably trust Jean-Marc Roulot with my life just like I trust him with every bottle he produces. This is purified happiness in a bottle and if you haven't tried his wines, you're wasting precious time.
