Domaine Philippe Gilbert
Menetou-Salon Pinot Noir Rosé
Nose has subtle aromas, under-ripe peach, orange peel, strawberry and dry sandstone.
Palate has sweet strawberry, light tangerine, light pink grapefruit, red currant and wet slate on the brief finish.
Decent wine, perhaps a year or two improves this new release. Under delivers for a sale price of ~$30; I'll stick to Pellé for this appellation going forward.
On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. For Opening Night our conductor Andris Nelsons is leading an all BEETHOVEN program (Overture to The Creatures of Prometheus, Piano Concerto No. 5 (Emperor) and Symphony No. 5) with one of our local treasures, Emanuel (Manny!) Ax on piano.
It's been a long time coming to get on the best manicured lawn in the Berkshires, 2020 saw a full withdrawal of the in-person season because of the pandemic. Now we're back with a very abbreviated season, limited capacity grounds and shed; we've returned, all celebrating the greatest orchestra in the world!

Beautiful fruit, refreshing acid, and minerality

Aug 6th, 2016Just a nick, price-wise, out of my pink comfort zone, but almost worth the cost. Aromatic, with refreshing acids and elegant fruit flavors, and a lingering finish. It will always be summer as long as you have some of this at hand.

Aug 24th, 2015Extremely rosé in a French way, but not Provence. Melon, mineral-driven, floral. Missing a little acidity, but great for the start of warm weather.

Apr 24th, 2020Recommended by the waiter at Maison Fournaise on the Ile de Impressionists in Chatou..... the site of the “Luncheon of the Boating Party”. excellent body at temperature. Good cheery forward with a pleasant non dominating finish. Draws you to the next sip.
