Blackberry compote, plum, forest floor, mushrooms, olives, black peppercorns, jerky, vanilla bean, iron, allspice. Rounded acid/narrow tannic grip, medium bodied, juicy texture, savory black fruit-spicy finish. This one requires patience, very closed off for nearly an hour before it revealed itself. Decanting encouraged.

Aug 6th, 2016Dark burgundy color with slight eggplant hue, spicy on the nose, white pepper, clove, cinnamon, anise, bacon fat and a hint of violet, medium to full body, initial sip with high notes of acidity, quickly goes away, quite a bit of deposit in the wine, tastes of bing cherry, cured duck prosciutto, clove, and tobacco, firm but smooth tannin, austere and smooth medium finish with a lingering sweetness.

12 st joseph: xlnt intensity, touch more red and a bit less Black than the St joseph tasted alongside. Very correct exuberant aroma of white pepper, black Olive and a slight touch of herb in the background. Excellent attack on entry, really quite intense and powerful, delicious middle palate, long flavoursome finish . Excellent
