Le Rognet Corton Grand Cru Pinot Noir

Green tea, olive tapenade

Tad flabby...lacked backbone but stinky enough to intrigue off the nose.

Great Corton...under appreciated Grand Cru. Great value.

This showed so well. Still primary, but very open for business.

This was very very nice. A big fruity wine. Very concentrated at this point. Supposedly the producer is known to be rather generous with new oak, but it seemed well integrated. ‘99 red burg continues to be a bit of a personal obsession.

Tiny hint of mildew or barn on the nose. Very mild tannins, and smoky. Almost reminiscent of a light Syrah. But kind of unobtrusive overall, at least for a Grand Cru. Still prettty good in the big picture.

This was absolutely delicious, having an elegantly rich freshness with good depth of flavour. The ideal world would have us sipping this in three or four years time when I confidently predict that it will reach it's apogee. Pricey: €52,00 ht

Fabulous, irreproachable pinot; note to self: don't be put off by the paler robe that some 2007's have. This is superb.
