Domaine Léon Boesch
Les Fous Alsace Gewurztraminer
@Delectable Wine this is the 2013 Domaine Leon Boesch "Les Fous" Gewutrztraminer. Another beautiful offering from Petite Monde imports. Beguiling aromatics. Crazy details & nuance on nose & palate. Boesch manages to coax tons of acid from the young vine fruit here creating gorgeous balance. Stunning stuff.

Peppery nose for a GT, reductive match aromasalso present. Beautifully dry with the slightest hint of petillance. High acid and lots of citrus and pear. Still has the grape Muscat type aromas, but lychee moves to the back. Tastes like a less intense chablis slope crossed with GT. I love it but I would imagine 16 is a shadow of the warmer more intense 15. A touch dilute.

Feb 26th, 2019Gorgeous work. Deepening gold colour, like a young sauternes. Honey, bitter citrus, melon, petrol, and a hint of botrytis on the nose. Palate follows with more of the same, with a long, bitter finish. A real stunner. Extraordinary value, here.
