Domaine Joseph Voillot
Vieilles Vignes Pommard Pinot Noir

Sour dark cherry, violet petal, black tea, Chinese five spice, wild strawberry, plum, sandalwood, red licorice. Smooth, velvet texture. Lovely now but would be better in 3-5 years.

Restrained at first. It opened up as we emptied the bottle. Red fruits, hay, darker Pinot, well handled oak, delicate, good weight to it, but Burgundy has a high price tag.

After a fairly difficult, closed phase this wine has finally relented. Fresh strawberry, sour cherry, leather, dried roses, sandalwood. Grippy tannins with nice length. Not rockstar juice, but still really nice.

Intresting contest! Pommards needs some more years of hanging on in the bottle to express itself at his best!
