A lovely expressive nose with classic chambertin notes- deep plum and wild strawberry, some earthy undertow. On the palate lush and resolved with oak that is a little too prominent.

Dark brooding color, opaque in the glass. Great nose from the start. Notes of black fruit, red cherries, dark spice, menthol, slate stone and dark earth. Silky smooth and savory in the mouth. Blind I might have guessed this as a rich Guigal La Mouline. Still in the early part of its journey, this can be drunk now and over the next 10 years.

From old vines dating back to 1885. Quite opulent. Ripe and highly concentrated. There is still some obvious wood. The fruit is quite dark and sweet. Tabacco, cocoa, earth, game, licorice, and spices add complexity. Velvety texture. Forcefully long finish, with toasty and mildly mineral notes. This wine is undeniably "impressive", but I didn't reach for another glass after my first pour. Probably needs time.

Nice tawny amber reddish color. Translucent. Exotic nose with notes of raspberries, rhubarb, spice, tobacco leaf and some menthol. Still has some bite in the mouth with robust acidity that bests the still present fruit. Masculine and very Gevrey in its overall impact. Could improve with some additional cellar time I think.

1999 vintage. Opened with a Durand. Cork in great shape and approx 35% saturated. Not decanted. Tasted after one hour open. Wowza. Most excellent, full nose. Medium body + with great, full color. Sous bois, smoked meats, carmelized cranberry impressions running the savory festival currently in residence. Personally, could only wish for a touch more astringency/tannins but, otherwise, completely phenomenal. At the absolute apex/top of the bell curve now and for the next 5-7 years. Have had some decent Roty efforts over the years but this one takes the cake along with the accompanying plates and silver. Do cork dorks dream of electric red Burgundy? Hafta say "Yes." 2.27.26.

2002 vintage. Perfect fill and cork. Decanted and tasted multiple times over the course of 2.5 hours. Almost zero sediment. Medium body. Thrust/concentration initially all frontal palate with some transition to the mid-palate after 45 minutes. Finish throughout was left a bit wanting. Big tamarind, sandalwood, menthol (molasses after an hour in the decanter) and Fruit Stripe gum just before the flavors absolutely drop out early on. Some grape fruit wrap along with tobacco and leather in hour number two. Let's face it...this was opened a decade too early. Obvious pedigree in definite need of a 5-6 hour decant for those insisting on drinking this now. Revisit after 2032. 2.23.24.
