Domaine Hubert Lignier
Tres Girard Morey St. Denis Pinot Noir
Morey St. Denis, Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. No formal notes due to the setting but I’m pleased to report that the 2018 “Très Girard” is positively delightful at this stage of its evolution. Still developing, there is a pleasant mix of dark and red fruit with earth and spice and enough structure to gracefully continue its evolution over the next 10 to 15 years. Drink now through 2038.

I can't help but crack a smile when drinking the Lignier wines of recent. There's just this lovely transparent fruit, often set of a racy, mineral-driven frame. The 2016 Tres Girard is no different - it leads with explosive scents of black cherry, rose, and sarsaparilla, followed by a red berry-saturated palate with strong salinity and subtle earth notes. Plain delicious, a bottle for one.

Chambolle similarities here, red cherries, toasty spices, hints of earth, fine tannins

Sep 1st, 2018Very young but wanted a datapoint. Like a gifted child you hope it reaches and exceeds expectations.

Still a light tight, but beautiful smoothness.

Nov 21st, 2014Last had 4ish years ago. On cork pop was concerned this had not come together. But decanted for an hour and this became quite seamless and delicious. Definitely on the fuller bodied end of the spectrum. Dark red and some black fruit, nice body, excellent acid on the finish married to quite present but integrated tannins. Excellent with a roast chicken with mushrooms cooked in the chicken fat.

May 30th, 2021Imagine this will be much better in a few years, but still fun to try now. With a 3 hour decant, this is nice. But the tannins are a bit too present at this point. Sweet oak and dark red fruit on the nose. Some good minerality but I think the elegance will come with time. Nice with grilled chicken.
