Located at the foot of Mount St. Victoire near Aix en Provence, owned by Genevieve Quiot, who inherited it her great-grandfather, Aurelien Houchart, and now managed by Florence and Jean-Baptiste Quiot, who represent the 5th generation. A blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, full fruit nose and flavor with a touch floral. Good acidity, overall good value. Tasting Sample.

The color on this Rose is a beautiful salmon. The blend is of Cabernet Sauvignon-Cinsault-Grenache-Syrah. There is lots of fruit on the nose, very expressive, Strawberries, good citrus notes, watermelon and red berries. On the palate is deliciously fruity with red raspberries, strawberry, red currants and a refreshing acidity. Very nice Rose for $10.99.

2014 it's another winner. This will be "down the shore" for shore.

A delicate, pretty pink; like the colour of crabapple jelly. The primary aroma is floral, orange blossoms with a secondary bouquet of sea minerals as if you were sitting next to the Mediterranean engulfed by a warm sea-breeze. Good acidity that should cut through the oiliness of the barbecued Salmon on the grill. The flavours of rose water, grapefruit and tart strawberries make this an utterly delicious rosé for a hot summer’s day.

This wine is light-bodied, refreshing, and on the nose smells like freshly cut flowers. Quite enjoyable!

The 2015 Domaine Houchart Rosé exhibits sweetness at the core verging on Watermelon Jolly Rancher, along with fresh, poppy notes of white peach and apricot. The wine label notes that the a blanket of CO2 is applied to the grapes during harvest in order to preserve freshness. I'd say they've achieved that goal, this is a fruit-driven rosé, albeit bone dry, with a light touch, the faintest kiss of minerality on the finish. For some, this will be the perfect, easy-breezy summer rosé, for others who prefer a more serious style, look elsewhere. 13.5% ABV | Sample

Fresh, vibrant, flavorful, balanced and utterly drinkable, this is what great rose is all about. Strawberry, orange flower, and citrus fruit... Beautiful.
