Gevrey-Chambertin Pinot Noir

Bright cherry cola Christmas tree nose with mushroomy earthy undertones. Earthy palate with forest floor and tart dried cherry flavors. My favorite wine of the entire tasting at PVGC tonight.

Needed some air time and it rewards nicely. I thought it initially had asphalt but that seems to have disappeared. I get a little pink grapefruit and rich cherry fruit.

Hit'em with the hein. Needs to open up. Pretty closed right now. Very drinkable now. Soft tannins. More to the black cherry side. Almost smells like a much older Burgundy?? Interesting

Still a noble structure but I guess it is too old now to be enjoyed. There's this harshness that doesn't allow any fruit or savoury notes to be perceived. Was it poor cellaring? Maybe the status of the terroir was it for early consumption? I'll never know.

Dark upon opening. Dark fruits, smoke, and spice. It perked up after an hour and the smokiness drifted away. Delicious.
