Domaine Henri Boillot
Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Chardonnay
You know you are drinking $400 plus a bottle Grand Cru Burgundy with the first sip. Is it worth it? If you have the money sure but, think you can find very good and near same quality for less money.
Another gorgeous 22. I know someone who has been going to Burgundy as a professional for 40 years that compared the 22 vintage to 59 and that is a huge statement that has the potential in time to prove itself out.
It is magic with the first sip. Perfect ripe and round. It is lush; Granny Smith apples, lime flesh w/ zest, lemon meringue, pineapple, green melon and white stone fruits. Honeysuckle, caramel, white cream froth, sea fossils & spray, beautiful chalky powder, limestone powder, biscuit, just a hint of mint leaf, field of spring flowers, yellow lilies framed in jasmine, perfect rainfall acidity and a round, elegant, lush, well balanced, well knitted finish that lasts minutes and fall on powdery mineral & white spice.

Soft and pretty. Delicate limestone and cool floral notes. A hint of salinity. Poised and balanced. Delicious

Sep 11th, 2024Loads of sulfur and drive and energy. A blast of gunpowder, then lemon and a long Technicolor finish with great acidity. Years ahead

Feb 19th, 2023Very potent corton charlemagne. The wine is tannic with a lot of structure. Wet stones, stone fruit with great mineral Ity, keeps on changing and amplifying. Would benefit from a couple more years of cellaring. Magnificent effort from bought grapes.

Jun 24th, 2022Lemon oil, wet stone, white flowers, a hint of honey. A long finish with noticeable but integrated oak. Rounded and polished. Long. Very good.

Nov 6th, 2021Very structured and muscular. A touch advanced with butterscotch notes not integrated. Lacking in length and complexity but still interesting.

Oct 31st, 2021Light gold color, youthful. Enticing nose. Notes of lemon and citrus, river stones, tan spice, some ginger and wet clay. Nice mouth feel. Great length. A powerhouse.

Oct 4th, 2021Typical Boillot, massive wood and super rich. At this time you are drinking an oak tree and with great difficulty there is some corton charlemagne. Is the oak ever going to give room for the cc to appear ?
